§ 14-28. Appointment of dike review commission.

  • (a)

    There is hereby established a dike review commission to review all applications for dike ordinance compliance permits to alter or replace existing dikes or construct new dikes. The dike review commission shall consist of seven members, all of whom shall be residents of the township. The township board shall appoint the members of the commission; provided, that at least three of the members shall also be members of the beach area advisory committee (BAAC), who shall be appointed for terms of two years. Additionally, three of the members of the commission shall be residents who live in the consolidated drainage district, and who shall be appointed for terms of one year. Thereafter, all appointments shall be for terms of two years. Additionally, there shall be one member of the township board appointed as a liaison member to the commission and the enforcement officer shall serve as advisor to the commission. Four members shall constitute a quorum to conduct a meeting and shall constitute a majority for voting purposes.
