§ 14-31. Right of entry.

  • Whenever it is necessary to make an inspection to enforce any of the provisions of this article, or whenever the enforcement officer or his authorized representative has reasonable cause to believe there exists upon any premises any conditions or violations of this article which make the premises unsafe, dangerous, or hazardous because of potential flood conditions, or on a regular yearly maintenance inspection, the enforcement officer or his authorized representative may enter upon such premises at all reasonable times to inspect the premises or to perform any duty imposed upon the enforcement officer by this article; provided, that if such premises be occupied, he shall first present proper credentials and request entry; and if such premises is unoccupied, he shall first make a reasonable effort to locate the owner or other persons having charge or control of the premises and request entry. If such entry is refused, the enforcement officer, or his authorized representative, shall have recourse to any remedy provided by law to secure entry.
